If you can write ok to 80 minute cdr, but 90's give you trouble, its probably to do with the 'overburn'.

Using Nero (please see images) :

1. Select 'File | Preferences'
2. Select the 'Expert Features' tab
3. Tick 'Enable Overburn' and enter 90 mins as the max CD length

Please read the text of the 'Expert Features' image, it explains a fair bit.
